Booking Through Thursday

Would you say that you read about the same amount now as when you were younger? More? Less? Why?

I have always loved to read, but the amount that I read tends to wax and wane depending on what is going on with my life. I read a lot when I was a kid, usually as much as a book or two a day in the summer months. In high school, working, sports, and other extracurricular activities took up a lot of my time, and I had little time for pleasure reading. This continued through college and postgrad, I only had a chance to read non-academic books in the summer months, but I treasured those times. For the past few years, I have been catching up on a lot of that lost time. The only major gap of non-reading took place in the months surrounding my wedding and our move from Australia back to America.

Exactly. That is how it has been for me too. I really cannot say I read more or less than I once did because I didn't keep track, but I do know that my reading was different. The time I was able to devote to reading, the types of books I read. Where I am in life--or more often what I'm doing--plays a large part in just how much reading I am able to squeeze in.

I read more than I did when I was younger. It's an important part of my life and so I have learned over the years how to make more time for it. Reading is my passion!

I was always an avid reader but I read much more now than I ever did when I was younger! I think it has to do with the fact that I have more interests now and hence the number of books that appeal to me are vast. Also, when I was younger, although I loved books I don't think I made them a priority...I tend to do that now. I set myself a daily reading goal and I strive to keep it.
